"ANGAARAY" is the story of the life of Aarti Verma-her emotions, her love and the limit of her tolerance. Aarti belongs to a middle class family-her father was a martyred colonel in the Indian Army.

Like in any other middle class family, Aarti's entire world revolves around her ailing mother, her younger brother Sanju and her home. At an age when she should have been carefree and enjoying life, being the elder child, she was burdened with the entire responsibility of maintaining the house and looking after Sanju's studies-hence she had no other alternative but to take up a job-as Jolly's Personal Secretary.

Inspector Vijay Malhotra is an honest and competent police officer who falls in love with Aarti the very first time he meets her. However, before he is able to tell Aarti about his feelings for her, Aarti is engaged to be married to Ravi. Ravi who has returned from America is a well to do spirited young man who has had the good fortune of always getting the best things in life. Ravi and Aarti look forward to life together, full of happiness and joy.

Now strikes the hand of fate which turns and twists Aarti's entire life and shatters her dreams into ........ Suddenly all ties and relationship vanish and Aarti feels complete alone in this cruel world. Hirabai and her 'Kotha' provide Aarti with the shelter, the love and the care which she, at his stage expects from Inspector Vijay Malhotra and his mother.
Vijay is torn between his love for Aarti and his duty towards his mother which brings about a situation of desperate longing.

Some months go by and a day comes when Sanju, Aarti's young brother, who has till now been away in the navy, returns to find his sister in a Kotha- this same sister who he has always worshipped and who, in fact more than God himself.

Fate now beings Aarti to a strange crossroad in life from where all paths seem to be blocked. Desperate and helpless as she is, Aarti is now driven to opt for a path - a path which is unthinkable.
